Sangamon county tables data center
A proposed data center in Sangamon County is off the table, reports Illinois Times. The Sangamon County Board voted 15-13 Monday to table the 280-acre CyrusOne project, after initially voting not to table the xxxxxx center. The board’s vote flipped after 700+ people spoke about the issue for more than three hours, many raising concerns about potential impact on the local environment and community. Board member Craig Hall, who requested the vote to table, said Sangamon County is financially stable and doesn’t need the property tax and investment income the data center promises. The board could still take up the proposal again at its April 7 meeting if a board member makes a motion.
