
Fitzgerald, Gallagher seek Dem nod for Iowa House District 98
DAVENPORT — An automotive technician and a teacher are seeking to earn the Democratic Party’s nomination to run for Iowa House District 98, which includes southwest Davenport and rural Scott County. Andrew Fitzgerald and Ruth Ann Gallagher will face each other June 2 in the Democratic primary for the seat, being vacated by State Rep. Monica Kurth, who is retiring. The winner will face businessman Nathan Ramker, the Republican candidate who lost to Kurth in 2024 by only 47 votes. for the seat.d Two Democratic newcomers will face each other in Iowa House’s 98th district to replace outgoing State Rep. Monica Kurth, D-Davenport. Fitzgerald seeks to increase education funding, access to health care and support for small businesses. Gallagher, a teacher for 40 years, also presses for more education funding, improving water quality, protecting pensions, and lowering housing costs.

Trauma Support Group at Clock Inc. changes time
ROCK ISLAND — A support group for people working through trauma is moving to a later evening time starting Wed., April 15. The Trauma Support Group by Clock Inc. meets every first and third Wednesday and is led by counseling intern Sarah W. It will now meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the nonprofit’s headquarters, 4102 46th Ave., after previously meeting at 4 p.m. Clock Inc. says the group is a “warm, grounding space” based on safety, respect and confidentiality that is “for anyone seeking understanding and connection.” It’s among several support groups the nonprofits holds once or twice a month; find the full schedule here. Register through Sunday for Rooting Out Poverty Conference
BETTENDORF — Project NOW is putting out a last-minute call for last-minute registrations to the Rooting Out Poverty Conference Thursday. The gathering of community leaders, advocates and activists features a conversation about poverty and overcoming it, keynote speakers, panel discussions, breakfast and lunch.
