GoFundMe: Rehab hospital next step for shooting victim

IOWA CITY — The University of Iowa student critically injured in a shooting in April  is about to transfer to a rehabilitation hospital,  and at press time her family’s GoFundMe page still needed about $12,000 to reach their funding goal. Miranda Peters was in the Iowa Ped Mall early April 19 along with hundreds of other students when an unrelated clash broke out and shots were fired (KHAK).  She’s been hospitalized since the shooting, which struck her head, and was on a ventilator for several weeks. Her family has kept updates flowing about Peters’ progress in blinking, moving limbs, and relearning to sit in a chair. The shooter has been identified as a young adult from Cedar Rapids. Thus far, just over $207,000 has been raised; the family seeks to raise $220,000.  Head here to donate to Peters’ GoFundMe account.
