Familia Fest brings soccer, animal adoption, more
DEKALB — Soccer, food, free entertainment and more will be at Familia Fest Saturday at 9 a.m. The fest will have the “Hola Cup,” a 14+ soccer tournament for people of all experience levels; a skills clinic for kids, and stage performances by DeKalb rock musician Mark Walters and the Dance Dimensions Academ You’ll also find bilingual story time, racing robots, and adoptable animals from Tails Humane Society, and more. Expo features "intuitive, mystical" vendors, speakers
DEKALB — Immerse yourself in topics involving magic, wellness and intuition, at this weekend’s two-day Witches & Wellness Expo. Among the topics to be covered by vendors or guest speakers: sound and movement, tarot, mystics, metaphysical tools, crystal energy and more. You can also partake of presentations by six mediums, psychic healers, paranormal experts, spritual advisors, and a filmmaker (see full list of special guests here). The event kicks off at 11:30 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday and continues through 5 p.m. each day. The Witches & Wellness Expo takes place at the Altgeld Hall Castle, 116 Altgeld Hall, on the Northern Illinois University campus.
Radium Rollers face Furious Foxes in rematch game
OTTAWA — Watch a roller derby game and donate items to an animal rescue at Radium Rollers vs. Furious Foxes – The Rematch! Sunday. The day also features a Duck Derby at half-time and a 50/50 raffle. Starting at 2:30 p.m., the match features the two hometown teams that are part of the Illinois Valley Vixens Short Track Roller Derby League. You’re encouraged to bring items to donate to LaSalle’s Illinois Valley Animal Rescue including dog and cat food, liquid laundry detergent , bottled water, and 13- and 39-gallon trash bags.
