
AI-driven data center in Bloomington gets expansion funding
BLOOMINGTON — The increasing role of artificial intelligence in policing is getting some financial support in Bloomington. Its Real-Time Information and Crime Center, which uses AI to collect and screen license plates and security cameras, plus other technology, is getting a $557,000 grant reports WGLT. The grant to the Bloomington Police Department (BPD) is part of a larger $19 million investment of federal funds to Illinois community and infrastructure projects. Bloomington’s crime center is the only crime-focused data center in Central Illinois and has thus far handled ore than 2,800 law enforcement requests.

Cabaret for Change tonight helps raise money for The Immigration Project
BLOOMINGTON — Help raise money for legal assistance to immigrants — while also enjoying drag, theatre, magic and more — at tonight’s Cabaret for Change. This night of cabaret and variety features many of your favorite local performers and is coordinated by the Coalescence Theatre Project. Proceeds go to The Immigration Project in Normal, which serves immigrants throughout central and southern Illinois. Admission is $10; get your tickets here or at the door. The show starts at 7 p.m. at The Bistro, 316 N. Main St.

Three central Illinois events Tuesday for TDOV
Events are happening in Bloomington, Normal and Springfield Tuesday to honor the Transgender Day of Visibility. The Transgender Day of Visibility Sashay starts at 4 p.m. at the Rosa Parks Room in Watterson Towers, 116 W. North St., Illinois State University in Normal. Also, the Trans Day of Visibility Celebration. featuring a barbecue, treats and music, starts 5:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Center’s Out on 2nd, 120 E. Scarritt St., in Springfield. At 6 p.m., you can catch the Trans is Beautiful event featuring singer/songwriter Alex Keith and co-hosted by the Prairie Pride Coalition at The Bistro, 316 N. Main St. All of the events are free, and the public is welcome at each.
