Dubuque County freezes data centers for a year
DUBUQUE — Dubuque County will hold off on any data centers for at least a year, following the county supervisors’ vote Tuesday (KCRG). An outpouring of concern from residents over an unknown entity exploring a data center in a rural part of the county triggered the moratorium, which was originally proposed to be only 120 days. The city’s zoning commission had voted last week in favor of the data center freeze. Dubuque County also committed to holding workshops over data centers. Waukee-based photographer Haley Matias has also started an online petition to reject a potential data center that has drawn 7,800 signatures so far.
