EAST MOLINE — More than 80 vendors will like 15th Avenue in East Moline Saturday for “Sip, Shop, and Savor Spring.” The East Moline Main Street Association, which is organizing the event, said the event is a chance to showcase the new look and energy coming to downtown East Moline with a $24 million revitalization program that started last year and will continue for another year. It’s also a nice warm-up to the big Tac & Margarita Fest coming May 9. It’s among the largest Cinco de Mayo events in Illinois and Iowa. Check out Saturday’s fun 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Learn more at the Association’s Facebook page.

Two go-go dance events in Davenport this weekend
DAVENPORT — Two nights of go-go dancing await Quad Citians in downtown Davenport tonight and tomorrow — one inspired by HIV loss and the other a sports league’s party. Tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., Figge Art Museum hosts a Go-Go Dance Party in honor of the late Felix Gonzalez-Torres, whose work is on display at the Figge and whose 1991 “Untitled (GoGo Platform)” piece is revered for how it speaks to loss in the era of HIV. Friday night, the Pride in Motion LGBTQ+ sports league hosts Cowboy Disco Night at Ecdysiast Arts Museum, starting at 7 p.m. Both events are free. Figge is at 225 W. 2nd St., and Ecdysiast is at 322 Brady St.

NTI dispensary project breaks ground near Milan Bottoms
ROCK ISLAND — The promised truck stop, cannabis dispensary , and consumption lounge near Milan Bottoms by Nature’s Treatment of Illinois is now under construction (WQAD). The project broke ground April 1 and will provide the Quad Cities its fifth dispensary, joining NTI’s current location in Milan, Terrace Cannabis’s spots in Moline and Milan, and the former Revolution Dispensary (now Stash House) in Moline. Environmentalists are concerned the construction project ‘s light and noise will disrupt nesting bald eagles and other species in the wetlands area. NTI has said it is taking steps to minimize the impact on the wetlands, though wildlife experts disagree. The truck stop is to be complete by October, while the dispensary is slated to be finished next April.
