Survey: ranked-choice voting favored by Illinois Democrats
A form of voting that enables people to rank candidates in order of preference is preferred by 65 percent of Democratic voters in Illinois, according to a poll by FairVote Illinois (FVI). Ranked-choice voting (RCV) is receiving a closer look in recent years because of general voter dissatisfaction. Advocates say RCV leads to more representative elections. FairVote Illinois’s survey also found that only 17 percent of Illinois Democrats objected to RCV. Overall, Democrats are more likely than Republicans to favor ranked-choice voting in general, according to a study by the University of Illinois.
