Croken versus Peters Democratic primary is now official
It’s official: Iowa State Rep. Ken Croken and his former friend and campaign surrogate Adam Peters will face each other in the June 2 Democratic primary, each seeking their party’s nomination to run for the Iowa House District 97 seat in November. Croken will hold a campaign kick-off event this week after months of being pretty sure he would run for re-election; Peters officially filed in March to run though he announced his candidacy in October 2025. Peters is former operations director for the Clock Inc. LGBT Community Center in Rock Island, former head of the Stonewall Caucus for the Iowa Democratic Party, and was also a delegate for the Democratic National Convention in 2024. Croken is seeking his third term as an Iowa State Representative and is also a former Scott County Supervisor.
