Milan's weekly low-cost animal wellness clinic is tomorrow

MILAN — Wednesday is your next chance to partake of low-cost vaccinations, medications and basic services at the Quad City Animal Welfare Center’s weekly low-cost clinic. The “curbside, drive-up” clinic happens every Wednesday from 8 to 11 a.m., offering basic pet health services for reduced rates. Heralded "Detained" the subject of Atlas Collective book club

MOLINE — An award-winning book based on a 13-year-old’s diary as he fled his home country of Honduras is the subject of Thursday’s book club at The Atlas Collective. “Detained: A Boy’s Journal of Survival and Resilience” tells the story of D. Esperanza, who fled his home country without his family and spent five months in detention. Released in 2025, “Detained” is co-written by teacher and fellow immigrant Gerardo Iván Morales. Thursday’s discussion will be led by two community members. Admission is “pay what you can” for the gathering, which is 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Atlas Collective, 1801 5th Ave.
Garbage Glam Call for Artists at Putnam

Putnam's Garbage Glam deadline coming April 1

DAVENPORT — The  deadline to apply for Putnam Museum’s Garbage Glam Fashion Show is just a week away. April 1 is when artists need to submit their application to be in this 4th annual showcase of outfits that consist of at least 70 percent up-cycled trash. Only 12 designers will be showcased. The May 9 event, which will be part of Putnam Museum’s big annual Putnam Palooza, is a way to  focus on sustainable style. Submit your application here.
