
QCRBJ honors 11 women for leadership, influence
BETTENDORF — Ten Quad Cities women were honored for being “leaders, changemakers and innovators” and chosen as Women of Influence by the Quad Cities Regional Business Journal (QCRBJ) in March. Honorees are Rebecca Arnold, resource development manager at the Martin Luther King Jr., Center in Rock Island; Jill Dubin, vice president of Quad Cities Bank & Trust; Melissa Gravert, head of education outreach at WQPT PBS; Amy Jones, senior director of social impact at Royal Neighbors of America; Dr. Michelle Morse, Bettendorf Community Schools superintendent; Melissa Pepper, president of Total Solutions; Ida Robinson, long-time staffer at the Martin Luther King Jr., Community Center; Gaye Shannon Burnett, founder of the Azubuike African-American Council for the Arts; Dr. Anshu Singh, professor of philosophy at Western Illinois University; and Andrea Talentino, president of Augustana College. Also, Micaela Booth received the Emerging Woman of Influence award (for a woman under 35) for her work as director of the Birdies for Charity fundraising effort through the John Deere Classic golf tournament. All 11 women will be honored at a May 28 awards dinner.

'Jojo Rabbit' about nationalism is free at Figge
DAVENPORT — Watch the 2019 dark comedy “JoJo Rabbit” at this week’s “Free Film at the Figge” Thursday. The film follows a German boy in World War II who confronts his blind nationalism after finding out his mother is hiding a Jewish girl. The film starts at 5 p.m., and Figge’s bar (now serving food) opens at 5 p.m. Stick around afterwards for a free glass of wine and a discussion about the movie. Figge’s Free Film Series, held every first Thursday, is dedicated to showing “the very best in provocative, suspenseful filmmaking set in the context of authoritarian fascism” and happens at the Figge Museum of Art, 225 W 2nd St. Next up in the series: “The Zone of Interest” May 7.

TPQC seeks medical director
MOLINE — The Project of the Quad Cities (TPQC) — among the area’s leading providers of HIV, LGBTQ+ health, and gender transition care services — is seeking a new medical director for its clinic services, to replace Dr. Louis Katz. The position requires only eight hours a week and is mostly remote; applicants need at minimum a Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) license to prescribe and administer controlled substances, and an Illinois medical license, but candidates with a dual license in Iowa will be preferred.
