
State Street Theater's weekend of Pride events starting Friday
QUINCY —Three Pride events are coming to Quincy this weekend courtesy of the State Street Theater. The fun kicks off Friday with a performance by Kansas-based genre-bending music duo The Swallowtails at 7 p.m. The fourth annual Pride Prom co-organized with the TriState Diversity Coalition (TDC) will have dancing, drag, and prom photos starting at 7 p.m. Saturday. All donations for the Pride Prom go to the TDC, which organizes LGBT-friendly social and educational events. The weekend ends with a monthly Sunday Social hour with games and drinks from 2 to 5 p.m., also co-organized with the TDC. All three events are free and at State Street Theater, 434 S. 8th St.

Music, food and more at Juneteenth Block Party
CARBONDALE — Enjoy live music, products from Black-owned vendors, and meet with community leaders at the Juneteenth Block Party Friday by the Black Chamber of Commerce of Southern Illinois. Carbondale’s City of Soul will play soul, blues, pop, and R&B throughout the evening. Vendors will have handmade goods, food and drinks, resources from community organizations, activities, games and more. The party is 5 to 9 p.m. at Attucks Park, 800 N. St.

Southern Illinois Pagans plan Litha ritual, potluck Sunday
MAKANDA — Celebrate the summer, sun and growth at the Southern Illinois Pagan Alliance’s (SIPA) Summer Solstice Celebration on Sunday. The free celebration is from noon to 5 p.m. A ritual starts at 2 p.m., with a potluck meal after. Feel free to bring food associated with your astrological sign: Water signs can bring side dishes and veggies, Earth signs main dishes, Air signs desserts, and Fire signs drinks. Kids and leashed, friendly dogs are welcome. Donations are appreciated to help with the cost of future events. Join the celebration at Shelter 2 in the Giant City State Park, 235 Giant City Rd.
