
Prairie Pride Coalition, Equality Illinois co-host town hall
NORMAL — Central Illinoisans have a chance to ask your elected officials what they’re doing to help the LGBTQ+ community at a town hall event on Monday. All state representatives and senators who represent McLean County have been invited. The evening will also feature voter registration booths, and tables by and about local organizations and candidates running for office in November. This event is co-hosted by Equality Illinois, the state’s LGBTQ+ rights advocacy organization, and Prairie Pride Coalition, a nonprofit dedicated to the well-being of the LGBTQIA+ community in the McLean County area. Join the town hall from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Astroth Community Education Center, 1500 W. Raab Rd.

Talk focuses on preventing suicide among LGBTQ+
BLOOMINGTON — Learn how suicide affects the LGBTQ+ community and what you can do for someone at risk at “Pride Pathways – Suicide Prevention for LGBTQ+ Communities.” The 90-minute presentation will cover risk factors and warning signs, how to set up protective environments for people at risk, resources, and how to talk to someone you’re worried about. Lunch will be provided. Pride Pathways is co-hosted by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Prairie Pride Coalition. You can join the event Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chestnut Family Health Center, 702 W. Chestnut St.

Learn to make homes for creative, special needs 'littles'
Learn to design child-friendly spaces with everyday materials, and promote curiosity and creativity in your kids, through a Tuesday online seminar from Illinois’ leading foster care nonprofit. The Center for Youth and Family Solutions will present “Enriching the Home Environment for Littles” twice Tuesday: once at 10 a.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. The presentation is ideal for foster parents, guardians, and interested community members. The training will also cover creating spaces for children with special needs that help them develop skills.
